Friedensgrotte

Just below the church, near the main square, you will find the Peace Grotto. Your entrance - a wrought-iron gate can already be seen from the Marian Column.

The Peace Grotto itself is located in the vault under the staircase Baroque church St. Ruprecht an der Raab. It was created in 2004 after the famous Ruprechter wood carver Hans Pendl pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Herzegovina. He bought no stone statues as a keepsake, but carved a statue of the Virgin in original size from wood.

In the Peace Grotto in St. Ruprecht an der Raab there is also a memorial for Sternenkinder. As Sternenkinder children are referred to in the narrower and original sense children who die before, during or after birth with a weight of less than 500 grams. In a broader sense, the term star children of affected parents is also used for those children who die more than 500 grams birth weight. In the Peace Grotto, a commemorative plaque was created for me to give expression to mourning and to give a worthy place.
