Victory Ceremony Nightrace 2018

The 21st editon of the legendary Nightrace at the slopes of the Planai in Schladming become a perfect Ski World Cup party thanks to its winner Marcel Hirscher. Against the spectacular background with its 50.000 spectators Hirscher wins 0,39 seconds ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen and the Swiss Daniel Yule. With this victory Marcel Hirscher is celebrating his 54. Ski World Cup victory and equalizes the record of Hermann Maier dating back from 2008.

The interim result after the first leg already promised the, expected by many, slalom showdown between Hirscher and Kristoffersen. Halftime leading Hirscher was two tenths of a second ahead of the norwegian.

Driven by the unbelievable atmosphere and backdrop, Hirscher managed it to put an incredible second run into the snow which lead him to victory. Kristoffersen had to deal with snowballs thrown towards him from the audience during his second run. After the finish line he was of course raving and complained about this unsportsmanlike behaviour.
