Giglachalm

The Giglachalm is a beautiful (unmanaged!) Alm, which is located in the Schladminger Tauern. It is located in the middle of a breathtaking alpine landscape and is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. Once upon a time there were nine huts built of stone and shingles. Today it is largely dilapidated - only a private hut and a shelter for the cattle are located here today. The alpine pasture is located in the area of the Giglach lakes between the Lower Giglachsee and the Landauersee. The hiking trail no. 776 starting from the Obertal-Hopfriesen leads directly at the Giglachalm up to the Giglachseen.

Especially a visit in June, when the last snow of winter slowly releases the green of the alpine pastures again, is a truly "thundering" experience. Even though the Giglachalm is unmanaged, it invites you to linger and enjoy the magnificent landscape. A special highlight is certainly the Giglachbach in this area, as it meanders over the alpine pasture here.
